Check Cartridge Placement
Ensure the black ink cartridge is seated correctly in its slot.
Remove it and reinsert it to make sure it clicks into place properly.
2. Clean the Cartridge Contacts
Turn off the printer and unplug it.
Remove the black cartridge.
Use a lint-free cloth dampened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to clean the metal contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge holder.
Allow it to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
3. Reset the Ink Level
For Canon printers: Hold down the Stop/Reset button (or the button with a triangle inside a circle) for 5-10 seconds. This resets the ink level indicator for that cartridge.
Check your printer manual for the specific reset process for your model.
4. Confirm Cartridge Compatibility
Make sure you are using a compatible cartridge for your printer model. Sometimes, refilled or third-party cartridges may not work properly if they lack the necessary chip or if the chip is faulty.
5. Run a Printer Diagnostic
Access the printer's settings menu or software on your computer and run a diagnostic or cleaning cycle.
This can help the printer recognize the cartridge.
