MG3600: New ink cartridges need re-installation every time

Hey all!

So my Canon 3600 printer has a problem.  I'm otherwise very happy with it.

I replaced my ink cartridges recently, 240XL and 241XL.  For some reason, it gives me an error

Support code : 1682

The following ink cartridge cannot be executed because the ink cartridge may not be installed properly or may not be compatible with this printer

The fix is easy, and works every single time.  I just open the front, remove both ink cartridges, and put them back.  Then I can print, and the prints look great.  However, if the printer is turned off, or switches off automatically from being idle for a long time, I need to go through the process again before I can print anything.

Has anyone encountered this?  I know the ink is correct and installed correctly, as it prints just fine after I do the remove-re-install thing.  (which only takes a few minutes)

Hi matt_gold,

Are you using genuine Canon ink cartridges?

Since this issue has occured, have you tried using new or different Canon ink cartridges?  If so, does the 1682 error happen with the other set of ink as well?

It didn't happen with the previous cartridges.  The current ones are new and they are genuine Canon.

Annoyingly, the printer recognizes them and prints AFTER I reinstall them.  And, all I actually need to do is release the cartridge cradle arm-thing on both and then re-lock it, and it recognizes the cartridges and prints fine...until the printer turns off and then i need to do it all over again!
