PIXMA MG7520 Screen suddenly in Chinese and won't work

HLily
Enthusiast

Hello,

I have a Pixma 7520 printer and yesterday after a storm and power outage that turned the printer off, when I turned it on, the screen had a message written in possibly Chinese and the code 6800.

I can't do anything with it - can't find any way to change it or to reboot it - all I can do is turn it off or on.

Please advise as to how this can be fixed - or if this is the end of that printer and I need a new one. In which case - how do I get the ink cartridges out of it - that doesn't seem to work either when I open the cartridge area, they stay hidden.

Thanks!

Hi HLily,

The 6800 error can be caused by a paper jam or foreign object inside of your printer.

Please disconnect the power cord from your PIXMA MG7520 and follow the steps provided on the following two pages:

MG7520 - Paper Is Jammed inside the Machine - Back

Hi Patrick and thanks for the information. I did try a variety of things and it did seem that the only solution was to need service. Since this printer is quite old, and I needed a working printer, I did just go ahead and replace it with a new one. I am sorry I didn't know about the Canon Upgrade Program, but since I needed the printer, and found a replacement, a Canon TS7720, I guess I am all set.

Thanks again for the help. Hopefully my new one will work well for as long as the old one. I am looking into adding an extended warranty on it, too.
