Hey everyone,
Hoping someone here can help. I’ve got a Canon i-SENSYS MF633Cdw color laser printer, and it’s been acting up out of nowhere.
It started when I printed a regular document and noticed the colors were faded, not sharp at all, almost like I was out of toner. I had already ordered a new toner set before that, but when I checked the printer, the toner levels still looked okay:
Black: 70%
Cyan: 50%
Magenta: 60%
Yellow: 40%
So toner didn’t seem to be the issue.
A few minutes after that faded print (and no one was even using it), the printer suddenly showed this error:
" Turn the main power off and on.
E015-0000
If the device doesn’t recover, contact your dealer."
I looked it up and found it’s usually related to the ITB (Intermediate Transfer Belt) or rotation issues with the toner cartridges. Since then, I’ve tried a bunch of things:
What I’ve Tried So Far:
1. Cleaning the ITB – Tried running the built-in ITB clean option, but a paper got jammed halfway through, and the error came up again, so I guess the cleaning didn’t even finish.
2. Clearing Paper Jams – I found and carefully removed all jammed paper. One got stuck near the roller in the paper tray, but I pulled it out gently without tearing anything.
3. Tried to Print a Test Page – I used the Auto Adjust Gradation option, but another paper jam happened, and then the same error popped up again.
4. Testing Cartridges One by One – I took out all toner cartridges and put them back one at a time to see if one of them might be causing the error. Funny enough, the error popped up right after I inserted the yellow cartridge, but when I tried booting the printer with only the yellow one, it passed the startup check. So I’m not sure if that’s the problem or just a coincidence.
5. Trying New Toners – I bought new ones, but they’re non-Canon, so the printer didn’t accept them.
Extra Info – What Just Happened Now:
Just today, I powered on the printer again. It showed the Canon logo, then booted to the menu like normal. But while the menu was already showing, I noticed it was still doing its rotation check in the background. It briefly showed something like it was “correcting” something, then made the usual rotation noises. But right in the middle of that, the E015-0000 error popped up again.
So clearly, the issue seems to be connected to that rotation phase. And again, when the toner cartridges aren’t in at all, the printer boots normally (no error, just says cartridges are missing).
Where I’m Stuck Now:
The printer shows the E015-0000 error every time it boots up with the cartridges in, usually during that rotation check right after the Canon logo or while on the menu screen. I’ve already done the basics (cleaning the part I could on the ITB, checking for jams as best as I could, testing cartridges), and now I’m stuck.
Questions:
1. Could it be one of the cartridges jamming the rotation (maybe yellow)?
2. Is there a way to clean or reset the ITB or whatever else without needing a full service center?
3. Can I do anything in service mode that might help? (How do I access it here, note that there no numbers pad)
4. Anyone else dealt with this specific error before and fixed it themselves?
Any help would be really appreciated! I’m not near a Canon service center I doubt there's any in this country, so I’m hoping there’s something else I can try on my own before giving up on it.
Thanks!
Model: Canon i-SENSYS MF633Cdw
Error: E015-0000
Toner: Original Canon toners currently installed
