It's driving me up a wall! The cord doesn't securely fasten in, and I can't figure out how to get it to. The only way the printer stays plugged in is if nobody touches it. I didn't have this problem with my previous Canon printer. Help, please!

Hi! Thank you for contributing to the Canon community!
I understand that the power cable keeps slipping off. I am sorry to say this likely is a problem with the printer itself. All you can do to troubleshoot this problem on your own is to try a different power cable.
If you still have your previous Canon printer, you can try that unit's power cable with your MG3620 (as long as the shape matches). Some Canon printers use a power cable that has an oval-shaped connector on one end. Other Canon printers have cables that have an end shaped more like a figure 8.
If you do not have the cable for your previous Canon printer (or if it does not match), you can check it the other devices in your house have a cable that matches. The cable that the printer uses is universal, so it is the same as a lot of other household electronic devices.
If the other cable that you use slips off or if you do not have another cable to try, you should consider calling Canon support. If you purchased your printer within the last year, you can set up a Canon account, register the printer, and call 1-800-652-2666 to speak with a Canon technical representative.
You do need to setup a Canon account and register the printer before you can call technical support. To set up that account and register the printer, please visit the following website:

I hope this information helps. Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply! I don't have the old cord, and I don't think it would have worked with this model. It appears that I can't get help without CarePak and I can't purchase CarePak after 90 days, so I'm SOL on this one, unless there's a solution I'm not seeing. Do you know the name of the figure 8 cord? Can I buy another one that might work?

Greetings,
You do not need a CarePak to contact Canon support. 1-800-652-2666. A CarePak is a service contract. You can buy a replacement power cable for your printer on Amazon if the one you have is damaged.
If the power connector on your printer is damaged, then a new cord is not going to help.
The MG3620 is a $40 printer. It's probably less expensive to replace it than to try to ship it and have it repaired.
