Cannot Connect MG3620 Inkjet Printer

I just bought a new MG3620 Pixma Inkjet Printer.  I have tried to connect it to my home network with the USB cable and I have tried to connect it wirelessly.  I have a Linksys VLP01 router.  I have a Macbook Pro.  I go through the setup process, but it is never successful.  It falls short of the part where it actually connects.

Greetings,

What version of MAC OS are you using the printer with?

Support portal for your device.

If you are using wireless, the printer requires a 2.4Ghz broadcast that supports WPA2/AES encryption.  Please ensure your network meets these requirements.  This is the most convenient option since it allows any device connected to the same network the ability to print.  I recommend assigning a static IP address to the device on your router.  This ensures persistency and a destination on the network that won't change.

If you are using USB.  The cable used must be compatible with the printer and the port on your laptop or desktop.  The cable should be connected directly to the computer.  Hubs and adapters should not be used.  Some MACs have specific cable requirements, so its important to ensure the cable being used is compatible.
