PIXMA MG2522 won't work after replacing ink cartridges

Hi all! I have a Canon PIXMA MG2522,  I attempted to put new ink cartridges in it and now it isn't working.  I used PG 245 and CL246, I have seen it says in some places to use PG 243 and CL 244, I don't knowmif I did something wrong or if it was the cartridges

Hi Stewie1719! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum.

The MG2522 uses the cartridges you mentioned (PG-243, PG-245, CL-244, and CL-246). It also uses the PG-245XL and the CL--246 XL. The only difference between the cartridges is the amount of ink in the tank. The ones with 245 and 246 are considered more economical.

To figure out why your printer is not working after installing the new cartridges, we will need more information. While the printer is turned on, please look at the power lamp and alarm lamp. Are they blinking? If so, please look at the blinking lamps and wait for a brief pause (about a second). When you see that pause, start counting the number of flashes you see until you see another pause.

Here is a link to the web manual page that shows the possible error codes:

Please write back and tell us if the orange alarm lamp is blinking on its own or if both the alarm and power lamp are alternating flashes. We will also need to know how many times the light or lights are flashing in between each pause so we can identify the error code.

If the printer's lamps are steady (not blinking), we will need to know how it is not working. For example, are the pages coming out blank? Or are you getting an error message on the computer?

If the pages are coming out blank, I would recommend that you take both cartridges out and check if the bright (neon) orange tape was removed from the bottom of them. When you take the cartridge out of the package, the orange tape will cover the darker copper-colored thin metal piece on the bottom of the cartridge. Only the brighter orange tape needs to be removed. You can visit the following page of the manual for illustrations that may help:

Please write back with more information about how the printer is not working so we can help you.

Thanks again!
