PIXMA Ink replacement plan vs buying your own ink

Just new to group checking about purchasing a cannon or other brand home inkjet printer but Cannon showed something called PIXMA sign up program but can you just also buy on your own? And you buy after market ink since Saw where HP listed that would void warranty and damage printer

The Canon Ink Replenishment Program is optional. It is convenient; the printer communicates over the internet and automatically sends a replacement when level is low. Helpful is stores near you don't carry the appropriate ink.

I only use Canon ink.

Not all Canon Pixma printers are compatible with the ink replenishment program. If you want that make sure you confirm the model is compatible.
