PIXMA G7020 Printing defaults to scanning

bgagne
Apprentice

Hello, I have a Canon Pixma G7020. When I try to print anything from either the cassette or the rear tray, the printer will default to scanning mode as if I have placed paper on the scanning platform. The firmware is up to date and the only thing I haven't done is reset all of the settings on the printer. Appreciate any assistance.

Thank you.

Brent

Hello Bgagne,

We would be happy to assist with the issue. To provide some feedback or some troubleshooting steps, we would need some additional information. If you could reply to this message with the information below, we can provide some assistance. For a more immediate resolution, you can contact support at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents would be happy to assist.

  1. What version of the Mac or Windows operating system are you using on your computer?
  2. When you try to print from the computer, do you get any errors on the computer screen or printer display? If so, what errors do you get?

Hello. It is a Windows machine. I get code 3412 which is " scanning original has failed" . However, I am not trying to scan a document. I am trying to make a copy from either the top or rear feeder tray. I can scan a document to the computer but cannot make a one for one copy.

Hi bgagne,

Please follow these steps:

1.  Please press the COPY button on your G7020 one time.

2.  Press the MENU button.

3.  Use the right arrow to select Copy intensity and press OK.

4.  Use the arrows to select Manual adjust and press OK.

5.  You can leave the slider in the middle, press OK.

6.  Once set, press the COPY button.

Please insert the original in the ADF and then attempt to copy.
