PIXMA MG3600 printer error lights on

My MG3600 printer has the error light, BK and CL lights all on. It blinks five times in a row. I was not using genuine canon cartridges. I took out the cartridges, power off and removed power cable for 10 mins, the error lights all still on. Will the lights go off if I use back genuine canon cartridges? How or reset the printer? Or Ineed to buy a new printer?

They should, they will blink if the printer does not recognize the cartridges and they will blink if no cartridges installed, they will light solid as an ink is low warning. I don't think you need a new printer, mine is a Pixma 3620 and its a good one.
