5 flashing lights on PIXMA MG3620

We’ve followed all the trouble shooting tips from Canon offline but unresolved and our printer won’t print. We get 5 flashing orange lights. First time ever today. Paper jammed. We removed it. Reinstalled color and black cartridges, tried unplugging from power, tried reset with power and stop in the proper order. What else?

5 flashes indicates a cartridge problem.

I also use a Pixma MG3620. The error you are having definitely points to a cartridge problem. Try removing the cartridges and re-installing them, while they are out, make sure there are no bits of paper anywhere in the paper path. Turn the printer off and open the top and back, inspect carefully. If all is clear then reinstall the cartridges make sure they are seated and locked into place and try a test print.

Just a question, who makes the ink cartridges you are using?

we’ve done all these steps but will try to reinspect paper path with the ink cartridges out. They are new but Amazon sourced compatible cartridges.

The ink cartridges have not created any recognition errors for at least 4-5 prior print sessions. We only print a few pages at a time and infrequently use the printer.

Try unplugging the printer and cycling the power button a few times. Then plug back in.

If unplugging it and checking the cartridges does not clear the five flashes, the delayed fault is most likely caused by an incompatible cartridge. I do not use cartridges or remanufactured Cartridges originally made by anyone but Canon. Third party ones have been known to work for awhile then cause a Canon printer printer to go into an error state.
