I purchased a New Pixma TS3522 2 or 3 years ago and got a fantastic deal on it. $49.99. Well after Buying ink cartridges all this time i see why the printer was affordable. To buy Canon Product Ink it will now cost you almost the amount I paid for the printer. Why is the ink so Highly priced compared to other Canon models?
I will no longer be buying Canon Ink cartridges because of this issue. I am not going to a Canon model printer that has Ink at a reasonable cost. I am leaving Canon and Going back to HP like i had before this Ink drinking expensive Printer called the Pixma TS3522. Good printer but for that one factor. At $50.00 a pop to replace both Color and Black, Its not worth it. I would much rather spend more for a printer that can have the cartridges replaces for 1/3rd the cost of this .
You lost a customer for life Canon. You will lose more if the pricey Ink continues like it is. I'm sure 95% of the folks who read this will be stirred and irritated by being reminded of the over prices Ink Canon sells.
Goodbye Canon,
William A. Clark.
future HP printer owner.

Two points:
1. The TS3522 is more or less a "disposable" printer, because replacing ink cartridges costs as much as buying another printer. The low price is a lure to get you hooked, and it worked.
2. Three colors-in-one ink cartridges make for a cheap printer, but are a terrible waste. They don't hold much ink and when one color runs out, you have to throw away the other colors still left.
I don't know if HP (or Epson) sell printers in this class. Your looking at spending a lot more than $49.00 no matter where you go. Canon does have a number of PIXMA photo printers to choose from that are more practical for photo-printing and significant color use.

Mr. Clark, gotta agree with normadel about this. There are inkjet printers from several manufacturers that use refillable ink tanks rather than disposable cartridges. The initial outlay is more, but over time the ink cost can be substantially lower. This might be something to look into to see whether your printer usage could justify such a unit.
Also, have you investigated the subscription ink service offered for this printer? Again, depending on your usage, one of these plans might make sense.
Just a few thoughts.

I don't care for the TS3522 (gave my new one away to a friend) , due to the fact that it will not print borderless 8x10s on photo paper. Same with some Epsons including a couple of their tank printers. I replaced my TS3522 with a new MG3620 (for 39 dollars). It front feeds instead of rear feeds which is more convenient for me and quickly prints 8x10s on any kind of photo paper. My next printer most likely will be the Canon G3200 or the G3290 (2 sided printer) Tank printers (3 color and black) both have a very good price at the moment on Amazon and they are the seller and shipper.

You don't have to have an ink "tank" printer to be more practical. I was referring to printers using separate cartridges for each color. Fillable tanks are just the newest thing.

True, I had a ten year old Brother printer that used separate cartridges for each color.

I may look into the Ink subscription service if the $$ is not ridiculously high. Seems like the Canon printers, not just the disposable printers have high priced Inks. HP has the Printer , Ink refill subscription for a very reasonable price. You buy the printer included in the monthly price. Downfall, 2 year subscription or you pay penalty if canceled early.
Yes normadel I was hooked ,reeled in and fryed on that low price. If i would have done some research on the printer I would not have purchased. Like we both said. The replacement Ink cost about as much as you pay for the printer. Just call me sucker fish.😂
Thanks to everyone for the response.

Too bad you are leaving and badmouthing Canon over your lack of research and being reeled in by a super cheap printer. Hope you buy the right printer for you next time!
