My MX870 has an error message

My MX870 has an error message that says:  Printer error has occurred.  Turn off power then back on again.  If problem persists see the manual.

 

I have tried powering off several times.  I have even unplugged it overnight and then powered back on and the message persists.  I do not have the manual and I am wondering how do I resolve this.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

The phone techs are out until Monday.  This is Saturday. Still trying to get help.  The screen says call unplug then restart if not working call support.
