ImagePro 300 and Error Code 1700

nvw

I am looking for confirmation that I am going to have to purchase another printer because myPro 300 is showing Error Code 1700, my ink absorber is almost full.

I have only made 1630 prints, none of them were borderless and I have only used Canon inks.

I have 2 questions.

  1. Can this be right? From what I have read others get this message after 4000 or so prints. This seems to have happened much too soon.
  2. Is there a technical reason why Canon printers have a built in end-of-life? Is there a feature or some other reason for having ink absorbers? I was told that Epson stopped using ink absorbers around 2010.

Thanks.

Hi nvw,

Please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

Once logged in, click on your imagePROGRAF PRO-300 and then click on the Product Support button. When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support. A Technical Support Representative can determine the cause of the issue and resolve it or provide you with your available service options.

Hello Patrick,

I have already contacted support. The fact that I only have 1600 prints did not seem to matter to him. He said there was no service option and the only thing I can do is purchase a new printer. If there is something else I can do, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.
