MX926 too slow to start printing

Hi. My MX926 goes through a lengthy preparation before every print job. This involves much clicking and whirring and print head movement and takes a long time. There is also a lengthy pause before even starting the preparation. This means that it takes up to a minute and a half to print a single 1 line page. This doesn't sound like long but when you are printing several documents and it does it before every print job it takes ages.

Is there any solution to this?

2. How long is the time between the print jobs? If the printer goes to sleep it can take a while to start printing again.
