MX922 won't scan after upgrade to Mac OSx 14.0 - Sonoma

Apple has deprecated one or more of the APIs used by Canon's software as of MacOS V14. It seems that Canon is across the board discontinuing support for MacOS as their camera software has also been affected. Good thing I still have a Windows machine in addition to the Mac. 2 choices, buy an Epson scanner or dump the Mac.

This is unsat. My MX-922 is the best printer I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot. The machine wasn't retired all that long ago. Please don't force me to a different printer.

Canon posted updated drivers recently. They fix the Sonoma problem.

Aside: we should stop defending Apple when they change their APIs, expecting everyone else to conform. This is an Apple defect.

Appreciate knowing that. I can’t find the updated drivers on the Canon website. Any info on where to look would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

Don't blame Canon for Apple's mistake.

I just today (Feb 26, 2024) called the upgrade number you gave and was told the MX922 still shows as “fully supported.”

Our MX922 has had severe issues since Sonoma 14.3.1 on *some* document types, including PDFs, which print fine when I take my laptop to my office to print on a newer MegaTank model. An example of the issue is printing from the Mac Calendar app, text and the hairlines between days are missing (or maybe, white).

Can you clear up the difference between what you posted above and what I was just told?

Bill, thanks, but that didn't help. I've downloaded everything I can find that is relevant to scanning, and still can't get the scanner to show up. Still looking for a solution to this.

This seems a likely enough technical explanation but it is directly at odds with what the guy on the upgrade line looked up and replied to me. Can you give a little more detail? If Canon *wants* to support this model, and other models work, it doesn't seem like it'd be TOO hard for Canon to indeed support the device, which has a mix of features that are hard to find on newer medium-duty (medium-priced) models

I agree. I did just discover yesterday that the Image Capture app will get the scanner to function, but that is a workaround rather than being properly supported.
