MX922 Printer keeps cycling on and off - only stays on when feeder is open

MX922 printer - has a new power supply so it shouldn't be a power issue.

When turned on normally it beeps, shows the canon screen and promptly turns off.  It will do this until it is unplugged.
When the top feeder cover is open while turning it on it will start to sound like it's booting and testing the scanner and move the ink cartridge around.
Only when the feeder cover is open can it sense when the cartridges are not there, or if the ink cover is open.
With the cartridges removed and the feeder cover open, it will give the error of no cartridges.
Once cartridges' are inserted it will give a message that the printer was not shut off properly and to press okay.
Pressing okay prompts the error that the feeder cover is still open.
Once I close the feeder cover and press OK it promptly shuts off and goes back to cycling on and off.

I've tried resetting it using the stop/on method, and power cycling.  It just won't work, the only way it stays on is if the top feeder cover is open, but it's unusable that way since it will just have an error that it's open.

Your MX922 and experienced an internal hardware issue and would require service. 

If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for this issue. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
