MX922 Black Cartridge Error Message

I am trying to use the large volume black ink cartridges (255) with my MX922 printer. After the cartridges get about half used, I start getting low ink messages even thro there is still a lot of ink left. I have tried various brands of cartridges, including Caron, with the same result. How do I get full use out of these cartridges?

Hi wshuebner,

I really can't speak to the performance of non-Canon ink cartridges, but the PGI-255XXL will start showing low ink primarily as notice that it will need to be replaced.  You can press the red Stop button to clear the error and continue printing until the ink runs completely out.
