Hello,
I'm trying to scan from printer to pc but all i get is "please wait a while" then it goes back to menu with no scanning done.
I'm able to use the scan utility to scan from my pc to printer. I have uninstalled all drivers and programs associated to canon and reinstalled after a reboot of the PC. is this a known issue or could the printer be failing, is there a way to test for what is causing the issue. Any assistance would be helpful

I'm having an issue scanning. The scanner icon doesn't appear (greyed out). The message when you touch Scan from the printer/scanner is "Please wait a while" and then it reverts back to the main screen. This worked great on my old computer. I have a new computer and it doesn't have a CD driver so I had to download the drivers. I think something must be missing. I have Windows 10.

this printer is USB connected, there is no urgancy since im able to use the scan function on the pc to make the printer do the scanning im just trying to figure out why the the printer stoped doing the scans via the scan button

I have the same problem.
I just bought a ASUS VivoBook5 laptop, windows 10. I have a canon mx495 printer/scanner. I can print ok, but I get the message "please wait a while" when I try to scan. Scanner works fine on my old computer, and it works fine on my wife's machine. I've reloaded the driver. This looks like an old problem. Have you fixed it? Can you tell me how? thanks.

I am having this same issue. I can print fine and copy fine - but the scan does not work. Why dont you have a technical library of answers on this stuff ? Very frustating. You can google this problem and find hundreds of people with the same problem.
I am running windows 10 pro and have a pixma 492.
