MX 490 continuous power cycling .

My Canon MX490 AIO printer started to power cycle with only the Canon logo showing on the printer display. The printer will move the ink cartridges then the rollers will move and click then shut off then turn back on and start the same cycle again. This will happen while it's plugged in. Any suggestions how to fix this issue?

i called the main sales line and when i got a human being explained that I had the big power cycling problem and they put me into the queue for support- had to wait there a long time- but got a person and no fees at all-worth the wait if you have already tried to do the fix on your own - the fix works- but if you need help to get thru it, and can get a humn being they will put your thru

PLEASE REMOVE THE SOLVED CHECK, this is just a bandaid and if CANON sees PROBLEM SOLVED, they will not work in a real solution. It is been 3 days that everyone with this type of printer are struggling, and I am sure the the SOLVED check didn't help for CANON to work on fixing this problem.

PLEASE REMOVE THE SOLVED CHECK.

Agreed, but if you've checked around, you've probably noticed other strings for this topic showing "solutions" by Canon "Product Expert" Arthur J such as "phone Canon for assistance" (good luck with that!) or "you have a fatal hardware problem, buy a new printer." Not sure if those qualify as funny or embarrassing.

This is not a "solution" this is a workaround to a change Canon pushed 5/31/2022.

A solution needs to be implemented by Canon. And if I know Canon like I think I do, their Ops and software development is excruciatingly slow to implement any fixes. More than a dozen family members have purchased Canon printers on my advice and half of them ceased working with this change. I've got egg on my face. Thanks Canon!

The problem with being disconnected from the net is that it still connects through your PC either way and then you can't print from your PC.

Funny that as they obviously created the problem, it's China all over again. Maybe they should have better info before "fixing" what isn't broken..

Sadly this fix does not work if your printer is only connected via WiFi.

I couldn't find the ORIGINAL Post Person to have you check out but I had a screen shot of his post.  There was one more step BEFORE backing out.  After putting in a new IP  number mx490 asked for sec server ON or OFF.  I put OFF.

This WORKED for me....I wish I could find the Person who posted this in such an easy format showing EVERY step to take....before I found this I was afraid to try anything in case I made it worse😅

THANK YOU whoever you are!

Thank you so much Sue. This worked perfectly after I put the SEC server to OFF. Yippee!!  🥳
