MG2522 not recognizing new ink cartridge

e07

I have a brand new black ink cartridge but it still tells me that it's empty, and I can't override the message by holding down the stop/reset button. I have tried removing and installing cartridge after unplugging the printer (unplugged for 10 mins, plug in but don't turn on, insert cartridge, turn on). I've looked up a bunch of help articles/videos and I no longer have the old cartridge so I can't use that trick. I'm not sure what else to do.

Also like to add that I am using a canon brand PG-245 cartridge purchased from Walmart. The protective strip has been removed.

Hi,

It sounds like the printer has experienced an internal hardware issue. If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
