There should be a document in the box, usually a multi-color fold out poster, that guides you through it.

Thanks for joining the conversation, Frankcolizzi!  In addition to John's advice, you can also download everything you need to set up your PIXMA TR4720 for free right HERE.

Hope this helps!

That's not good enough. He and I need help. I'll be calling Canon on Monday, but can you suggest anywhere else I can find help until then? (7/19/25)

@Frankcolizzi is probably using Windows 10 or Windows 11 S-mode.  This is the reason an operating system would say "it's not an approved Microsoft app".

@Niku,

To ensure your issue receives the visibility it deserves, please start your own topic to request assistance.  Your thread should include the model of your Canon product.  The operating system version and build you are using it with and how it is connected and to what?

Thanks in advance.  😉

This is probably a dead issue for the original poster, but anyway......

Windows 11 has a function called "Driver Signature Enforcement".  Its purpose is to prevent installation of possibly-rogue drivers that can cause system damage. It can be temporarily disabled to allow installation of TRUSTED drivers that MS doesn't like. I've done this a number of times when I needed to add a driver in Win11 that had been fine in Win10 and earlier.

It involves starting up Windows in Recovery Mode and selecting "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement".  A web search for "disable Windows 11  Driver Signature Enforcement" will give the full procedure.
