GX2020 MegaTank printer printing VERY slowly (4 pages/hr)

paul4ut

My computer:  M2 Mac Mini
My internet speed:  1000 mbps

I have restarted the computer, printer snd router multiple times, but the printer continues to print at a snail's pace. I tried sending a Word document (no color) with one sentence. It took 15 minutes to print!

Anyone have an idea as to how I can get my print speed back to normal?

Thx

Causes of Slow Printing

Slow printing from the GX2020 MegaTank printer can often be attributed to a few common factors:

  • Network Issues: If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi,  devices connected to home network (not to be confused with internet) speed latency can significantly slow down printing speeds.
  • High Print Quality Settings: Using high-quality print settings can lead to slower print speeds as the printer takes longer to process and print each page.

Troubleshooting Steps

To improve the printing speed of your GX2020, consider the following adjustments:

1. Switch to a Wired Connection

  • Use USB or Ethernet: Temporarily connect the printer directly to your Mac mini using a USB cable or Ethernet. This can help eliminate any network-related delays.

2. Adjust Print Quality Settings

  • Lower Print Quality: Access the printer settings on your Mac and select a lower print quality option. This can speed up the printing process without sacrificing too much quality for standard documents.

3. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Update Printer Firmware: Visit the Canon support site to check for any available firmware updates for your GX2020. Installing updates can resolve performance issues.

4. Simplify Print Jobs

  • Reduce Document Complexity: If you are printing large files or documents with high-resolution images, consider simplifying them. Compress images or print in draft mode to enhance speed.

Thx!
