Canon TS9100 support code 1240

Support code 1240 on my TS9100 says the panel is not open when it is in fact open.  No matter how many times I press the OK button and open and close the panel, it will not print and says the panel is not open when it is! 

Where are the sensors in this printer that I need to clean or fix to get rid of this problem?
