I get this message: and the SN is correct, I verified it's correct on the outside and in the software

The serial number you have entered is invalid for one or more of the following reasons:

1) The serial number does not match the product you have selected (FCC ID which starts with "AZD" is often mistaken for serial number.)
2) The serial number entered indicates this product was not intended for sale in the United States and is ineligible for registration and support in the U.S.

Please verify your product model and serial number to ensure they were entered correctly.

Greetings,

I suspect it might be #2.

Where did you purchase your printer from?

Was it purchased from a Canon Authorized Dealer?

Canon store via Amazon so it should be a US sold printer

Greetings ,

Check your purchase closely.

Canon does not operate a store on Amazon. Amazon creates these storefronts for large volume vendors.  While Amazon itself is an authorized dealer, many of the storefronts are populated with marketplace sellers who unfortunately sell grey market items.  If it says ships from and sold by Amazon, it should be a US product.  If you find that you purchased from a marketplace seller, I'd contact them and request a return.

Hi, Handlg01!  We can check whether your printer was intended for sale in the United States.  Please let us know the letter portion only of your printer's serial number (don't provide the number portion as it can compromise privacy) and we can look it up.  The serial number should consist of four letters followed by five numbers, like ABCD12345.

We look forward to your reply!

KNKW..... is the serial number letters

Thanks!  That letter combination corresponds to the PIXMA TR4720 intended specifically for sale in Canada.  Because it has a Canadian serial number, it won't be recognized by Canon USA's web site.  If you live in the United States, we recommend contacting your dealer and letting them know that you got a printer meant for sale in another country.  They should be able to assist you.

Hope this helps!
