This is a "call to arms" for all of you Canon customers who have had this problem and have had their printers disabled because of it. Please respond with the model of your printer and if you were able to fix it, what you did to fix it.
We need to put pressure on Canon to respond this product defect. It appears to be bad firmware that does not allow the user to override the problem and to continue to use the printer even in a degraded mode. From my investigations the problem is NOT a printhead issue - no way one can be printing fine and then have this error alert without having changed the printhead or ink cartridges!
Canon, PLEASE take this issue seriously and provide a solution across the affected models. If nothing else there should be a trade-in allowance for those printers that have been affected by this product defect.
I have had many Canon printers because they have superior functional specifications. I want to be able to continue using Canon products but only if I can have confidence that this product defect will not destroy my investment.
If Canon is unresponsive our next step should be to aggressively publisize this product defect on social media and on major product vendor outlet sites as negatives reviews.
Forum Users, please reply with your affected model number(s) and with details of any succdessful fix procedure.

Hi all. I have an MX700 and I'm at my wits end. I needed this to print documents for tax season and literally had to look for a 24 hour kinkos type place to print my docs. I didnt get to post until now due to bandwidth issues. I tried all the recommended fixes and nothing worked. Sign me up for the class action. This literally costed me hours of sleep and emotion. Canon better do something to make this right......

Just received the same UO52 error message on my MX892 printer while it was in the middle of a print job. I followed the recommended correction procedures (reseat printer head, unplug for 10 mins, etc.) and it did nothing. I contacted Canon support and repeated the procedures with them to no avail. Oddly, the technical support rep acted like she had never heard of this error before. 🙂 She concluded our troubleshooting by saying that there was no resolution for this issue (did not even waste time discussing a new print head).
After confirming that my printer was no longer under the one-year manufacturer warranty, she forwarded me to their 'loyalty sales group' to discuss potential options for replacing my printer. As a 'loyal' Canon customer (actually have been for 14 years) they offered me a special 25% discount on a like model (MX922). Unfortunately, that 'special' price was identical to what Best Buy, Office Depot, etc. are selling it for!
I'm in the computer hardware business (storage) so I understand that hardware is not infallible. That being said, I'm very disappointed that I barely got 18 months out of this printer, especially after always paying a premium for the expensive Canon ink cartridges. Therefore, before I purchase another Canon printer, I'm going to evaluate my other options.

I own a Canon Pixma MX892 and have gotten the same message. When I called they convinced me there was nothing I could do so I purchased another printer because I use my printer often. I took great care of my printer and like another person on this forum had just installed new ink, was printing 2 copies of the same document, the first one printed fine and the second one didn't print at all and U052 was showing on the screen. What a disappointment! I thought Canon was better than this, what poor quality! I agree with a class action law suit, something needs to be done!

I had this error with my canon printer that showed up one day with no warning.
Using my powers of deduction and understanding how power supplies work I found an easy solution to fix that that anyone can do in about 1 minute.
If you would like to know how to do it email me.
