Why two versions of DPP and EOS Utility

I am just curious why there are two version of DPP and EOS utility. Why wouldn't Canon just add support for all their cameras into DPP 4? Same with EOS utility. Now I have to have both versions installed on my MAC and Canon seemingly is continuing to...

I'm going overseas and want to be able to upload my photos at the end of every day to a safe place.

I see that images uploaded to the Canon Image Gateway are reduced in size by default. For example, an image of 4.5M that I sent was reduced to 800K. Is there any way to keep the image's original size?

I have Canon Photo Professional and also have Canon Picture Style Editor.  Are these programs meant to be used togather or is Canon giving one an option of which you want to use.  Alot of the features duplicate eachother.
