What causes this?

Any raw file to share?

That was a public CR3 test download. Let me see if I can find the URL.
I put it on dropbox. Would not think its image dependent. This happens on several images and must be telling me something.

Thanks.

No issues with DPP 4.17.20.0 for Windows here. What if you change thumbnail size?

still there. Any size. Only two of 15 images or so. No rhyme or reason I can find, but must have a purpose.

Found it. It is AF points. Went to Quick check and marked AF points.

You are right! Most images show a spot red square for focus points. These two must have been using the entire sensor.
Thankls.

Tracking mode was enabled. You can also select all AF points shown, only points in focus, or none.

That made sense John until I looked at the image next to it that does not show the not in focus points and shows exactly the same for tracking. So that is not why.
My best guess is it is following the AF selected AREA and some are full sensor and cause this. Smaller points do not regardless of tracking and detection.
