I just updated the DPP to version 4. As soon as it gets launched it shuts down. I have tried reinstalling DPP and restarting the computer. Any suggestions?

What type of computer are you using, Windows or Apple?  What is the exact version is your Operating System?

What happens when try to start it? I can’t see your screen.  Does the app open or display an  error message?

I don't speak fluent Apple but if you use Windows, the app manager should be used to remove any highly outdated version before trying to install the new version.  Also go into task manager (if in Windows) and kill any DPP related process before installing the new version.

If you have any image or other files in the old DPP default directory, move or remove those also so that the new version doesn't choke on a corrupted old image file when it is trying to start.

Windows Home 11.0 ver 24H2 and uptodate, DPP ver 4.0. I start it, it looks normal for about 2 seconds then shuts down. No error message. New machine, lots of memory. Machine otherwise works fine.

Current DPP version for Windows is 4.20.11.0 so if you have just 4.0 it is far out of date and might not play well with Win 11.  Go to the Canon support site to download the current version if you actually have 4.0 still.

And there seems to be a minor glitch in 4.20.11.0, this version will tell you there is a new version available even though there isn't and then it just downloads another copy of the 4/25/2025 update and then tells you it is already installed.
