Hi all,
I just upgraded to Windows 10, and immediatly ran into the problem that is described in this thread about Windows 8:
http://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Software/Eos-Utility-problem/td-p/1189
After reading that thread I decided to unplug the other USB devices I had in the computer at the time (Garmin Watch, USB key, smart phone) and turn off the camera. I then turned on the camera and ran the EOS utility and it found my camera and worked correctly.
Clearly this problem is still not resolved, but that simple work-around gets me downloading my pictures again. There are a lot of other things people tried in the above thread, but I just unplugged the USB devices and was good to go.
Solved! Go to Solution.

OK, solved it. Went to the Canon Support site and although there is no updated software for WIN 10, I checked what was available in the Win 8.1 software. There is an "EOS Utility Updater"... this installed "EOS Utility 2" and now it is working just fine.

Hi, I made the connection working through WiFi AP. Based on the signal strenght, it could be terribly slow - almost useless.
The EOS Pairing Software table was empty, until I allowed Default Forwarding on the wireless AP on my Mikrotik RouterOS.
So if you do not see the network in the camera, and you can normally connect via USB to EOS Utility, it could be also in settings in the access point.

Although I do want to check - for those that have this working, are you using a USB cable to connect your camera to your PC? That works for me too. When I connect the USB cable, the Utility automatically pops up, and that's how I transfer my photos currently to my PC currently.
My problem is that I can't connect my Canon camera to my PC from a Wireless/LAN perspective. Yet the Wireless/LAN works when transferring images for everything else. Specifically tranferring works from the camera to:- Mobile/Android, TV/DLNA, YouTube direct, Irista, Canon Image Gateway.
I'm assuming that transferring files from my wireless Canon camera to my PC on the same LAN is not possible. Neither is there anything in the manual to indicate that this is possible. Which is bizarre as like most people, all I want to do is transfer my camera files to my PC so I can edit them in Lightroom.
When you are trying to connect your camera to your computer, which device is the client and which is the access point? If the answer is "Both are clients" or if you don't understand the question, it's likely that that's your problem.

The cable isn't a special one. You should be able to buy it from most computer stores. It's a standard USB 2.0 plug on one end and a USB Mini 2.0 B on the other. Take the camera to your computer store to match the plug type.
If you buy a card reader, most of them use the same cable.

Thanks for your post about using EOS Utility Updater, which I downloaded from Canon Support and installed. At first it did not work, but when I typed 'Canon EOS Utility' in the Windows 10 search area it came up at the top of the results. I then right-clicked it, chose 'Run as Administrator' and it worked! (once the camera was connected by USB and turned on).

I had this working for a few weeks and then all of a sudden it stopped completely - my EOS 70D is recognized on the network from the PC but the software (any of the three versions that appear in the folder) fail to detect the camera. I've reinstalled the software, wiped the settings on the camera, but all to no avail.
To make things worse, I wasn't used to dealing with a memory card and ended up forgetting my SD card as I was having to remove it from the camera each time instead of using WiFi, which is one of the main reasons I got the camera in the first place. I hope that Canon's reading this - if Nikkon offers a similar feature, they're getting my money next time.

For people where removing drivers, uninstalling-reinstalling various installers/upgrades, unplugging all USBs, trying YouTube registry fixes, buying an old EOS-U disc from eBay, disabling all antivirus, firewalls, etc etc STILL didn't help...(!) Gavin at the higher level of Canon UK tech phone support just solved this for me. Event Viewer showed that this problem was due to corrupt configuration files. The fix for this is: go to File Explorer > C: drive > Users > your ursername > (show hidden folders) AppData > Local > CANON_INC > delete all the folders inside CANON_INC. They're the corrupt temporary configuration files, no harm deleting them.
