EOS Utility 3 not detecting EOS 5D mark iv in Mac pro

Hi there, my EOS Utility suddenly stopped working; it doesn’t detect my camera anymore; I checked connection cable and that’s not the problem; I uninstalled the software and installed again, and nothing. Why I’m not able to use it?

Did you update your macOS recently (before the problem started?)

Yes, my Mac updated recently

OK, try this. Delete the software. Reset for NVRAM (instructions below) and then reinstall software. This has worked for some folks.

It says "The steps to reset NVRAM don't apply to Mac computers with Apple silicon, and aren't needed on those computers."

I own an apple silicon

True. You didn’t reveal your particular model. I have a M2 MacBook Air with Ventura. I had the connection problem until I deleted and reinstalled the EOSU software. Once I reinstalled EOSU connected to my 1D X Mark III.

Is there any other solution?

If you are using EOSU to download images you could use Apple Image Capture.  Other than that I don’t have any other suggestions.

The release notes for macOS 13 Ventura mention that with Apple CPUs there a new menu item under settings. I do not have this menu item on my iMac with an Intel CPU.

  • On portable Mac computers with Apple silicon, new USB and Thunderbolt accessories require user approval before the accessory can communicate with macOS for connections wired directly to the USB-C port. This doesn’t apply to power adapters, standalone displays, or connections to an approved hub. Devices can still charge if you choose Don’t Allow.

You can change the security configuration in System Settings > Security and Privacy > Security. The initial configuration is Ask for new accessories. Configuring an accessibility Switch Control sets the policy to always allow accessory use. Approved devices can connect to a locked Mac for up to three days.

Accessories attached during software update from prior versions of macOS are allowed automatically. New accessories attached prior to rebooting the Mac might enumerate and function, but won’t be remembered until connected to an unlocked Mac and explicitly approved. (43338666)

I had to completely delete the EOS Utility 3, download a new copy for macOS 11, and reinstall it. I had to do the same for Android File Transfer. I used the same cable and USB port to connect the camera or the phone.
