R6 Mark II, EOS Utility 3.20.20 - downloading only JPEGs or only CR3s

Hi,

My current camera is R6 Mark 2, and I shoot RAW+JPEG.

Can you help me (if possible) to setup EOS to download from camera only JPEGs or only RAWs ?

Important: I'm looking for a way to do this from EOS Utility app, not from camera / direct transfer.

Regards,

Using the EOS Utility is a direct transfer from the camera,  You have me confused.

Where are you trying to save the image files? Phone? Laptop? Desktop? Tablet?

I believe the Utility downloads files from the card  you have selected for image playback when you use the PLAY button.

if you’re saving both file types to the same card, then the Utility will automatically select everything it can find on the that had not been previously downloaded. That means both file types,

The EOS Utility also allows you to manually select files to download,  Or, write RAW to one card and JPG to other card. The Utility will download from the card you selected in the camera for playback.

As noted by Wadizzle, other than using both card slots with RAW on one and JPG on the other I don't believe EOS utility provides any "auto" method to select only one or the other for download.

Downloading doesn't delete them from the camera card so you could let EOS utility download both file types and then use the computer file utility to delete only one type or the other.

citronella,

When you use EOS Utility to download a transfer, once the two devices are connected, Utility asks what you want to do. If you say Download images, it will give you the option of Automatically download all, or Select and download..

You want to Select and download. You'll then be given a preview of all the images on your card, and you check off which ones you want to download, and tell the program which folder to put them in.

Once you give it a folder to put them in, I'm pretty sure EOS Utility organizes them by shooting date.

Sorry.

My Reply was addressed to citro.

I hate these automatic spell corrections.

Hi  Waddizzle,

I want to save the image files to PC (Laptop / Desktop). Hence EOS Utility (if I'm not mistaken, it is specific to PC).

There is a setting on camera, documented here: https://cam.start.canon/en/C012/manual/html/UG-07_Network_0050.html#Network_0050_3 . I thought I might be able to download only JPEGs, but it seems the transfer must be initiated from camera, not from PC side.

It looks like I should buy a second card 🙂

No offenc, stevet1. Actually, citro comes from my name. Citronella might be a term of endearment 🙂
