DPP4 compatibility with other camera brands?

Just out of curiosity, can DPP4 handle RAW pictures taken with other brands of a camera like Nikon or Sony?

I'm not intending to, I was just curious.

No. It will only read Canon RAW files. Each camera manufacturer generally provides a RAW converter file for their files.

Hi stevet1,

As jrhoffman75 mentioned DPP4 can only read RAW files from Canon cameras. If RAW files from a different manufacturer's camera was loaded the thumbnail would show a question mark, there likely wouldn't be an EXIF data, and the file likely would not be able to be opened. That can also happen if a RAW file from a Canon camera is edited in other photo editing software and is then imported to DPP4. Other editing software can change the photo data enough that DPP4 wouldn't be able to read it correctly any more. Our software is really just for editing files that have come directly from the camera.

Thanks John.

I kind of thought that was the case.

I have not tried all camera brand's jpg but the ones I have tried DPP4 will edit them. Functionality is limited compared to editing Canon RAW files, however.

I have found the same with JPEGs. TIFFs can be a problem.
