Hello. I bought a CANON EOS M back in 2014 and haven't used it for a few years. Now I'd like to do some video recordings where I could monitor the picture from my laptop. I tried connecting the camera to my Windows 11 laptop using USB cable, but Windows couldn't recognize the device. I have EOS Utility 2.14.20.0 installed. Also tried EOS Utility 3.16.11.2, but neither worked.
Now is there some way to get the pc monitoring working on widows 11 with this old model or is it a futile attempt?
Thank you.

Does EOSU 2 run if you try to open the software?
Do you have a different cable to try?
Do you have access to a different computer to try?

Hey, many thanks! It was the broken cable after all! Now that I changed the cable EOSU 2 recognizes the camera just fine. However, I couldn't find the option for tethered shooting (edit: and more importantly monitoring the camera) in the app. Do you know, if it's available for this model?

I’m not familiar with that software, but the website discusses control of Canon DSLRs using the Canon SDK. I don’t see the SDK available on the M200 support site.
Best bet is to contact the software vendor.
