Camera Connect rejects my password or email

paul-bklyn

My camera is an EOS R but that's not relevant.  On my Camera Connect app, which is up to date on my iPhone, I fill in my email and the password and only get "your email address or your password is incorrect." I clicked to change password and only after four tries did a reset email finally actually reach me; I reset the password using my computer and got a notice of successful password change, then I could sign in and see my account info on the computer at myid.canon.com.  After this, the app on my phone continues to give the same wrong password/email message. I have deleted and reinstalled the app and it continues to not work. What can I do?

The Help link on the myid.canon page only says to contact my "local Canon support team," and it sure looks like getting any support requires having a working warranty, which I don't. Help!

I see on other posts that a recent change in the Camera Connect app requiring a sign in with Canon ID has given a lot of trouble, but I don't think it's the same trouble as mine. I don't use a VPN, and this happens both using WiFi and straight cell connection.

Paul,

When using Canon 's connection services or software, like Camera Connect, you now need to get a Canon ID. This is separate from your Canon account.

See:

I don't think a VPN has anything to do with it.

Stevet1: Thanks for this; I had an account but for some reason my password wasn't working when I typed it in; I suppose I'd made some error because the same password (AFAIK) my browser saved on my computer, after I had successfully logged in to the canon id site, did work when I copied it, sent to the phone and pasted it in the Camera Connect field. HOWEVER, now I am unable to connnect by bluetooth: I think I am following every direction, and the camera fails to find my phone. I also tried using the Wifi connection and again the camera said it could not find my device. I took a lot of photos and screen shots but is there ANY way to get help besides the onscreen instructions that when I try to follow them just don't work?

I would edit my above comment if I could, so this addition is just to say that after some huge number of tries, it did work to connect my camera to my phone by Bluetooth, so I will accept your post as a solution because the issue is done. I wish I knew how what I did the final time was different from all the previous times I thought I was doing the same thing.
