I will have the opportunity to be in the path of the full solar eclipse in April. Looking for all tips and cautions on taking photos of this event. Thanks for your help.

Get yourself a good quality solar filter. A tripod is essential. My 600 mm lens (Tamron 150-600) was a good focal length.
During the last partial, I got some suspots:
Sometimes, too you can remove the filter. For the eclipse I viewed in Albuquerque, it was just about sunset at the end of the eclipse, so I could take the filter off:
