Vixia R800 focus issues

I am having problems with the manual focus on my R800.I am teaching watercolor/painting tutorials on Zoom ,using the camera overhead.The focus seems good until I start drawing and painting and then everything goes blurry.The camera is about 3 feet above my work table.I am trying to set the manual focus. Not working
