Vixia HG20 won't connect to my computer HELP!!!!

I've tried everything noted on the canon site ie. don't use a hub, unlplug, etc etc and nothing has worked.  When I plug in the usb cable and select printer/computer on the camera I see the usb icon on the top of the viewer but nothing happens after that.  My computer doesn't see the camera.   I've tried this on two different computers running windows 7 at different patch levels and loaded the canon digital video software and the imagemixer 3 on the older PC to no avail.  Please can anyone help as canon won't support this anymore.

I have tried several USB cables and ports.  Tried 2 Macs and a PC.  Same result, as soon as you plug in the USB cable to the computer either before turning on the Vixia or after, the USB icon flashes and it will not connect.

Called my Canon CPU service to talk to a tech who said as long as the USB icon flashes it will not connect.  Seems a shame I have to trash this camera...it takes great video.  However not being able to download the clips makes this camera useless.

Last year I had no problem pulling off video.  I also used an old Mac running Tiger OS just to make sure Apple didn't screw things up with their constant manipulation of their OS system.  Looks like this camera will be tossed in the trash.

Hope this helps someone.  I had the same problem and what I found was that my Windows 10 machine detected the connection but wouldn't assign a drive letter to the camera hard drive.  I had to right click on my Windows start menu icon, select 'Disk Management', find the disk labeled CANON, right click, select "change drive letter and paths", then select an available drive letter.  Once I did that, the drive shows up in file explorer and you can find the video files under  \AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM  .
