Yes, but if other files exist in the same directory, decent software could neglect other files and should not crash.[your argumentation: it is perfectly allowed that Microsoft's Windows crashes when Adobe creates a pdf in a documents folder... ]

Canon support suggested a firmware update solution using laptop and placing the firmware on a memory card. That solution process worked. I am now at version 1.4.0.Thanks for the suggestions.
