RC-IP1000 problems: random reboots, overnight lockups

Hello everbody,

we have a couple of issues with our RC-IP1000:

1. After about 3-4 hours being powered (POE+ Netgear GS308EPP and the other day GS108PP) the controller all of a sudden reboots for no apparent reason.

2. For one production 2 CR-N500 cameras were connected (via Netgear GS308EPP switch) and not turned off during the night. The next day (around 24 hours later) the controller "locked": it was possible to use the Joystick for PTZ operation, but when trying to set i.e. exposure settings like iris or WB temperature via the touchscreen, the controller did not do anything. The same parameter changed via the web GUI worked perfectly. User and pw were correctly entered and saved for each camera.

Also the buttons on the controller (i.e.: Iris enable, Auto Iris, etc) could not be selected/changed.

The next job using a CR-N300 everthing worked fine again (except for the reboot, which occured again). Returning back to the office the other day both CR-N500 are working well again.

Anybody?

Thx,

Knut

Hi knutb,

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your RC-IP 1000 controller. Since the cameras are responding correctly to the web controls that indicates the cameras are set up correctly and operating correctly. Typically if there was an issue with the network or the cameras we would expect the same thing to happen with the online controls.

There are a couple of things to check on the RC-IP 1000 with issues like this. The first is to double check the power source. If the camera lost power for a moment it could cause both the issue with the multi-controller and the issue with the controller rebooting. If the controller was being powered through batteries on set it would be good to try running it off of wall power to see if the same thing happens. If it is already running on wall power it would be good to try a different outlet to see if the same thing happens.

Another thing to check would be to see if the controller needs to have the firmware updated. Sometimes if the firmware on the controller is older that can cause similar issues. The current firmware is available HERE. Once you are on the web page click on the Firmware button and the instructions to do the update will be in PDF files included in the firmware download.
