XF605 FTP issues since last firmware update

JLP
Contributor

Hello again.

Well, FTP worked on my XF605 up until the last firmware update.  Now it gives me a message saying it received an error code from the server-which, according to the log that the server keeps, it indeed did, because instead of writing to the directory on my Raspberry Pi that I told it to in the settings, it now tries for some God-only-knows-why reason to create a subdirectory in my home directory, which of course fails.

I've tried resetting the camera to no avail and would try reflashing the firmware if there were a way to do it.  Is there?  And just in case this is due to some crazy incompatibility that needs to be addressed on the server end, I'm running vsftpd on Bookworm (the latest Raspberry Pi OS version).  Any ideas what to look for there?  As in the past, my FileZilla client running on my laptop doesn't have these problems.

By the way, when is the next firmware upgrade coming?  Hope some of the other networking issues (no SFTP, IPv6 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi support) will finally be fixed.

Hello JLP,

We are not notified to future software, firmware, or hardware updates prior to them being officially announced by Canon unfortunately. Based on the details of the latest firmware available for this camera, it doesn't seem likely that it should be causing this issue. When you reset the camera, were you able to go back in and setup the FTP settings as they previously were? You mentioned that it was trying to send the files to a subdirectory of some sort. You may want to contact phone support for some real time troubleshooting over the phone. If you would like to speak with a Canon representative, please contact our Technical Support Team at 1-800-652-2666, Monday through Friday between 9:00 am to 6:00 pm ET.
