white photos

I have been getting blank white photos using my 430EX11 speedlight off camera. All I know is that i'm getting high exposure. How to do fix it? I've check the speedlight and it's telling me the setting is on ETTL, zoom--mm, and my camera is on auto setting.

When the speedlight is connected to the camera it gives me good pictures but when it's off camera it's giving blank white photos. How do I fix this problem?

You may be experiencing issues with sync speed.  What is your desired shutter? If over your camera's sync speed (typically 1/200 s), the camera will automatically cap the speed at that value and thus you'd get overoxposed results.  Set your camera/flash to work in high-speed sync.
