Speedlite Transmitter ST-E10 and R5c Compatibility

thefunkmobile

I attempted to use the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E10 with the Canon R5c, but unfortunately, it didn’t function as expected. The ST-E10 fails to communicate with the R5c in photo mode, although it is recognized as an accessory in video mode. I specifically need it for photography, not for video work. I also tried to update the firmware from 1.1.0 to 1.2.0 in video mode, but I ran into an error that halted the process. Now, the R5c no longer recognizes the ST-E10 in any mode. When I turn on the R5c in video mode, the ST-E10 blinks twice, which likely signals a failure or firmware mismatch. In photo mode, the R5c still does not acknowledge the ST-E10 at all. It's extremely frustrating that I can't use this accessory as intended in photo mode. I strongly urge Canon to address this issue in the next firmware update to enhance user experience.

Thank you for your time.

@thefunkmobile The EOS R5 C is NOT COMPATIBLE with multi function hot shoe flashes or transmitters. Look into the ST-E3-RT or older EX series speedlites.

Bodies: EOS 40D & EOS 5D Mark IV
Lenses: EF Holy Trinity, EF 50mm F/1.8 STM, EF 70-210mm F/4 & EF 85mm F/1.8 USM

Greetings,

What my colleague @deebatman316 has mentioned is correct.

I see you've already found an older thread about this topic.

Thank you all! I just returned the ST-E10. It’s unfortunate that it’s not compatible but I already own the ST-E3-RT and was just hoping for something smaller.
