I have a canonEOS Rebel T3 and a Novatron 240 flash kit. I bought a Wein Hot Shoe Safe Sync and attached it by the proper cord to the light’s power box It isn’t tripping the flash bulbs. I don’t know what settings I need on the camera or is this just not going to work with this camera?

Using a 3rd Party strobe with the camera in live view. Will resort in the flash not firing. Canon speedlites will fire in live view.

I disabled live view and it still won’t flash. Are there other settings that could prevent it from firing? The cord is new as is the hot shoe and the strobes work fine

What mode is the camera set to on the top mode dial. If it's set to Auto only E-TTL can ONLY be used. Manual flash is NOT possible. Do your strobes support E-TTL. Are you using a flash cord. Is there any kind of adapter being used.

The lights are an old Novatron 240 set. I don’t know what ETtL is and don’t know if the strobes support it. There’s a cord from the power box of the lights to the Wein hot shoe attached to the camera

The trigger voltage maybe too high. You could've possibly fried your camera.

The Wein hot shoe’s job is to step the voltage down low enough not to fry it

E-TTL is basically Auto mode for the flash. Check and see if your flash system supports it. If it only supports off the film TTL. The flash won't fire at all or it will fire at full output ONLY. If it has a manual flash option. Set it to Manual Flash with the camera in Manual Mode. What mode is the camera set to on the top mode dial.

It’s set to manual and I’ve tried Flash Disabled and Flash on. Thanks for your patience. I’m about to give up. The camera isn’t fried so the hot shoe must be stepping down the voltage

Are you sure your camera isn't fried. Have you tried a Canon speedlite to see if it works. The hot shoe circuitry can be fried. But the camera can still function correctly.
