Hi,
I need a help about my canon R100 and Speedlite Flash settings.
I bought PHOTOOLEX LCD
When I use manual settings on the camera and turn flash on the external flash is working but the camera is not in "external flash mode"
When I go to
flash control -> external flash func. setting
it shows :
" This menu cannot be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off"
When I try it with my neewer strobe it shows the same.
I am a new and need a help with it please.

Thank you.
Now is on TV mode and I set "Second-curtain synchronization"
And I don't know where should I see 2 visible flashes?
But in that mode is still dark the photo.

For this test don’t worry about the exposure. When you fully press you should see the metering pre-flash. Then the main flash at the end. Or you could dial in a long shutter speed such as 30 seconds. The 2 flashes should be more visible.

I am not sure what is metering pre-flash and when I press it don't see anything different and I don't know is the 2 flashes should be more visible.

With E-TTL and other TTL flash systems for digital cameras. They will fire a pre-flash to determine flash power. Old off the film TTL relied on light reflected off the film. So there was no pre-flash at all. If you’re only seeing one flash and the shutter speed is set to 1/30th of sec or slower. Then the flash is set to Rear/ 2nd Curtain Sync. There may be a problem with the flash. I’ll double check the manual to ensure the 2nd/ Rear Curtain Sync is available when the shutter speed is set to 1/30th sec or slower.

What custom functions do you have set on the speedlite. I can see it has Custom Functions set. What Custom Functions are set on it. You can see it from the Speedlite Custom Functions menu. Take a picture of what Custom Functions have been changed.

Does the built in flash work correctly or is it still underexposed. Can you test the speedlite on a different Canon camera. Or can you use a different know working Canon Speedlite on your camera to see if it works.

Check all of the flash Custom Functions not set to 0. On all of Canon's speedlites 0 is the default option. So what are the others set to with the 1s in blue. Those could be affecting your speedlite causing issues. So take a picture of what those are set to.
