Issue: Canon #Speedlite EL-5 Not Working with Canon #R8
Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Canon Speedlite EL-5 flash not working with my Canon R8 camera. Every time I attach the flash, I receive an error message saying that the connection is not compatible and to reattach the accessory. However, when I use the same Speedlite EL-5 with a Canon R6 Mark II, it works perfectly and is recognized without any issues.
I’ve already updated both the flash (v. 1.1.0) and the camera (v. 1.3.0) to the latest firmware, but unfortunately, the issue persists. Interestingly, other flashes like the Godox TT685II work fine with the Canon R8, so it doesn’t seem to be a problem with the Multi-Function Shoe itself.
Has anyone encountered this problem before or have any suggestions for resolving it? I’d really appreciate any help!
Thanks in advance!

You might want to try updating the EOS R8 camera to the new firmware 1.4.0 that just came out.
The reason for this suggestion is that I noticed that in the EOS R10 firmware just posted, there was a fix for what seems to be a very similar error, though this was not covered in the notes for the EOS R8.
Fixes an issue, in which when SPEEDLITE EL-5, EL-10 is attached, the "Accessory unavailable status" message may be displayed when restarting after the camera has gone into Auto Power Off

In my case it does not fix the connection issue with my canon R8...
