Part of a 9-0 match, all of the real action occurred in the first 30 minutes of the first half and then the winning team went into passing only, non-shooting mode.
Shot with Canon 1DX III and EF-400 f2.8 @ 1/2500, f2.8, ISO 125 on a sunny chilly Fall afternoon.

Another outstanding action shot! I appreciate the settings. Will keep in mind for reference.

photos in action are my weakness

I am definitely more comfortable with sports action photos! Even when they are less serious like this Powder Puff football game between freshman and sophomore students held as part of homecoming week festivities when the plays aren't exactly well choreographed and executed 🙂
Shot with Canon 1DX III and EF 400 f2.8 at f2.8, 1/1600. It was a fun break from shooting regular HS football!

I love your action shots, especially when you get the facial expressions.

Thanks Newton!
Sometimes I am not sure the athletes are as happy with the shots featuring their expressions.
My daughter liked this photo of her practicing ball control headers for soccer but it doesn't look like the rest of the photos I am taking for her senior photos album!
And NOBODY celebrates better than her soccer teammate Ellie who is the younger sister of our great senior running back. She "wore" his #24 on her leg to honor him. To make sure my daughter didn't score a touchdown, she grabbed her shirt to slow her down when she missed the flags. I have shot a lot of her brother's touchdowns and he never celebrates like his sister, of course he usually has multiple TDs per game so scoring a touchdown was a much bigger deal for little sis 🙂

I love it! The excitement and determination in the faces.
