imageFORMULA R40 scanner not found by Surface Pro running Windows 11

I purchased a new Surface Pro laptop and I have been trying to connect my Canon Image FORMULA R40 scanner to it,  I have adjusted the WIA to automatic and run multiple times.  I understand there is supposed to be a fix for this issue.  However when directed to downloads I am not seeing the CAptureOnTouch Pro download as described in the troubleshooting.  When I do the installation, it goes all the way through and when I connect the scanner it can't find it. Has anyone else been able to fix this?  Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help!

Hi,

Please go back to the website below and download the Windows Registry Tool (file called DR_RegistryFix.exe). This program will check if there are any issues with accessing the ISIS/TWAIN Driver installed on your computer.

When the page opens, please click on the SOFTWARE & DRIVERS symbol to the right of the picture of your scanner. Then, make sure that the Operating System and Version under the Downloads section matches the one your computer is running. Then scroll down to the bottom of the list and click on the LOAD MORE button until you see the DR-RegistryFix.exe file at the very end of the list.

When the file finishes downloading, please open and allow it to run. It will search for problems in the registry that will restrict access to the scanner driver. If it finds any issues, it will correct the problem and then inform you of the correction. Please restart your computer (turn it off and on) after you close the Windows Registry Tool.
