Hello - once I upgraded my computer to Windows 11, the LJ scan utility disappeared from the applications menu.  I reinstalled the utility, but it still does not appear.  Any ideas?

Hi lwescott,

On your computer, please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter S, then let both go.

In the Search window, please type SCANUTILITY

Does the IJ Scan Utility appear in your search results?

Please note: operation can only be guaranteed on a PC with pre-installed Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 SP1

Hi lwescott,

Please reinstall your CanoScan LiDE 300 on your computer following these steps:

1.  Disconnect the USB cable from your CanoScan LiDE 300.

2.  On your computer, please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R, then let both go.

3.  In the Run window that appears, please type CONTROL and click OK.

4.  In Control Panel, click on Uninstall a program.

5.  In the list, click on and uninstall the LiDE 300 drivers and IJ Scan Utility.  If they are not in the list, please go to next step.

6.  Next, we will install.  Please click this link:  Canon Support for CanoScan LiDE 300 - Downloads

7. Click on Software & Drivers.

8. Choose "Windows" from the Operating System drop down and then "Windows 11" from the Version drop down.

9. Click the Download button to the right of "CanoScan LiDE 300 Scanner Driver Ver.1.01 (Windows)".

10. Once that file finishes, please open or run that file to begin the installation on your computer. If you have to search for the file first, the files name is: "sc68-win-lide300-1_01-ea34_2.exe "

11. Follow the on screen prompts to reinstall. Please reconnect the USB cable only when the installation prompts you to.

Once reinstalled, please click the Windows button at the bottom of your screen and then "All Apps" or "All".

In the menu that appears, click on the Canon Utilities folder and then the IJ Scan Utility to open that application.

More information regarding scanning with your CanoScan LiDE 300 can be viewed in the manual, here:

The Canon Utilities folder does not appear in the Windows menu.

Greetings,

It's best to start your own thread when seeking help.  Although there are similarities, environments do differ and the solution for one situation  may not apply to another.  It's also not possible for you to mark a post solved if it belongs to another user.  This is helpful for others looking for solutions and for those trying to help.  Thanks in advance.  😉

We would need more information  about your environment.  Version and build of yiur OS, and the steps you performed, etc.

Rick,

This IS my thread.  The steps I took are those recommended by Patrick, above.  This all happened after I upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10.  My Canon printer driver was not affected, but the Utilities folder for the scanner does not appear in any Windows 11 menu, and there is no executable I could find for the scanner utility to create a short cut, so I have no way to use this scanner on this machine.

My Windows specs are as follows:

Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎8/‎19/‎2025
OS build 26100.4946
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.197.0

What do you mean by "upgraded" to Windows 11? An upgrade on top of 10, or a complete fresh install of 11?

If the former, something went awry in the system. I would urge you to backup all your data and wipe the hard drive and do a fresh 11 install. The upgrades in place aren't completely dependable.

Yes, I did an upgrade on top of 11.  Ouch.
