imageFORMULA R40 - Apple Confirmed that it will not connect

CALawyer

I have an R40 Scanner. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support. The scanner will not connect now that we all had to update to Tahoe.

When does Cannon plan on fixing this problem.

I have 16g of ram, it’s not a ram issue. It does not have the right driver.

Is this going to be fixed?

Did you try the Sequoia driver? It was updated in Jan26.

Greetings,

I understand you're frustrated. I'm sorry for the difficult to your experiencing.  Let's make sure we understand the facts.  OS updates are not forced.  You didn't have to upgrade to Tahoe.  It's elective.

It sounds like you had been using the scanner connected via USB successfully under a previous version of MAC OS? Was that Sequoia by chance?  If your Mac is based on Apple silicon there's a good chance the Sequoia drivers will work under Tahoe.

That aside.  Since you worked directly with Apple, what happened when you connected the scanner to your MAC?  Does it detect the device?  I'm not asking if it worked, just if it was detected at all?

Are you running any third party antivirus like crowdstrike? Etc.

I may have other suggestions based on your replies.

You also have the option of contacting Canon Support. To do so you will register the device in your MyCanon account, then call the number I'll provide below.  Although thd R40 support portal only shows compatibility up to Mac OS Sequoia, there's a chance it can also work with Tahoe if your hardware is based on Apple silicon.

Start here, register the device first.

Then call support:

Probably not of interest to you right now, but Canon makes it really cool capture on touch plug-in for scan to legal cases.  Unfortunately it's only for windows currently.

Hope this helps.
